Deeply inspired by the magical space Habonim creates for Jewish youth, she has developed a strong commitment to the movement and its values. In 2026, Amira will be taking a pause from her fifth year of Medical studies at Wits University, in order to fully dedicate herself to the role of Mazkira Klalit of Habonim.

Maayan Eylon

Shlichah

Maayan joined HDSA in 2024 as part of the P2G mishlachat, focused on building strong connections between Israel and the Diaspora. She previously served in the IDF as a commander for three years. After attending Machaneh, Maayan was deeply inspired by the South African Jewish community and Habonim’s values, leading her to return in 2025 as a senior member of the mishlachat. Wanting to continue her journey with HDSA this year, she will be taking on the official role of Shlicha (Israeli youth worker) in Cape Town. With several years of experience in informal education in the kibbutzim and a year of volunteering in Kibbutz Yizrael, Maayan is passionate about educating youth in Zionism, leadership, and core values.
