SHTILIM
Grade 5-6
At Shtilim Machaneh, you can be assured of three dynamic activities per day, constant interaction between channichim and madrichim, a well-stocked tuckshop, free time on the beautiful Onrus Beach, a new addition of late-night food, and new friendships that will last a lifetime.
Shtilim’s focus on its community is a great way for channichim to discover their new Habonim environment and family that understand what responsibility is, learn about the Jewish community, and partake in Shtilim’s exciting projects! These include the amazing Kibbutz Project, Shtilim Wedding, and a beautiful off-site tiyul. Our Shtilim channichim get the unique opportunity to stay in state-of-the-art cabins with newly renovated ablution facilities and a kitchen. Arts, crafts, and sports tournaments are always available for our channichim during free time so that your child will never be bored.
ROSHIM

Greg Landau
Rosh Shtilim
Greg is no stranger to Habonim, with this year’s Machaneh marking his 10th in Onrus! There is nothing he enjoys more than an afternoon chill on Kikar, a granadilla ice bite, and a spontaneous Habo dance party! He currently serves as the Rosh Chanichim of Johannesburg, where he has spent the year coordinating channie events, school visits, and mini-machanot.
Being the former Head Boy of King David Victory Park and a Diller Teen Fellow, his leadership skills and experience put him in a strong position to lead this year’s Shtilim Machaneh with confidence, kindness, and integrity. Greg is a second-year law student at Wits University, where alongside his degree, he is also a radio show presenter on the campus radio station. He cannot wait to make Machaneh magical and meaningful for every single Shtilim channie this December!
Kiara Kawalsky
S'ganit Rosh Shtilim
Kiara is a 20-year-old student at the University of Stellenbosch, studying Intermediate Phase Teaching. She is passionate about education, youth leadership, and community development, with deep roots in Jewish life. She has been actively involved in Habonim Dror for 10 years as a channie and 2 years as a maddie for Shtilim (2023) and Bonim (2024), as well as helping run many Mini Machaneh on the leadership team.
She is beyond excited to be leading the Grade 5 and 6s this year, and the team is planning an incredible programme for your kids!

Jonty Schkolne
S'gan Rosh Shtilim
Jonty has been part of Habonim Dror for 10 years, and this December will mark his 8th Machaneh on the campsite. With a decade of involvement in the movement, he’s developed a strong passion for youth leadership and education. Having Maddied a variety of age groups, he’s especially excited to bring his experience and gentle, kind nature to the Grade 5 and 6s this Machaneh.
Now in his third year of studying Medicine at UCT, Jonty is particularly interested in paediatrics, a perfect match for his energy and care when working with children. He’s excited to plan a Machaneh that’s not only full of fun and ruach, but also helps Shtilim channies grow, learn, and leave inspired. With his warmth, creativity, and commitment, Jonty is ready to make this the best Machaneh yet for Shtilim.
