SAYARIM
Kesem - Grade 10
Kesem have returned after an unbelievable Sollelim Machaneh to delve into what Habonim is really about! In Sayarim, the shichvah bonds cement and the group’s identity is carved into stone. Sayarim takes a step up in the level of engagement, independence, and fun as it explores a fresh approach to the ideas of freedom and empowerment.
Some of the best moments include the Sayarim Carnival, in which channichim experience the power of coordinating a carnival for the entire Machaneh. Peace Tekes is the ceremonial culmination of a two-day seminar run for the shichvah, focusing on the history of Israel and expanding our Israeli education.
ROSHIM

Daniel Rome
Rosh Sayarim
Daniel is an economics student at Wits and a second-generation Habonik, following in his dad’s footsteps from the ’80s. Involved since Sayarim, Daniel has been a proactive leader, ensuring activities run smoothly. He’s a fan of organisation and spreadsheets, and his goal is to make Sayarim this year the best it has ever been. He has a strong connection with the kids in this age group, is a massive fan of fun, and can’t wait to take the kids this year.
Holly Berk
S'ganit Rosh Sayarim
Holly attended Habonim Dror as a channich in 2018 and 2019, prior to the COVID years, and has since returned as a madrich in 2023. Being part of the movement has become an integral and meaningful part of her life, and she is passionate about contributing to the growth and development of Jewish youth.
While newer to the madrich position, Holly has attended and held leadership roles in mid-year programs that have greatly developed her people skills. She hopes to bring a culture of empathy and kindness to everything she does and strives to bring joy to the channichim.
She is currently in her third year of the BA (Law) degree at Stellenbosch University and will begin her LLB postgraduate studies in 2026.
Holly is unbelievably excited to be leading the Grade 10s this year alongside her fellow madrich Daniel. Together, they plan to create a programme filled with learning, entertainment, and meaningful experiences.
