AMELIM
Grade 8

Amelim Machaneh will be the ray of sunshine that lights up Onrus this December. Amelim is a transformative year in the channichim’s lives. You’ll enjoy the full experience of creative education that you can only get in Habonim: to think, discuss, play, and laugh. Days will be filled with interesting peulot and more than enough free time. As channichim begin to engage with their identities, both individual and collective, this Machaneh is where they will truly start to connect with the movement.

A unified spirit will be cultivated this Machaneh for the Amelim shichvah as they receive their name and become connected to the Habo family all around the world. Additionally, on Survival Night, the channichim grapple with consumption and the material comforts of their lives. Movie Day teaches the channichim about storytelling, directing, acting, and some editing skills. We cannot wait for the gees of the Amelim year to make this one for the ages.

Jordyn Budd
Rosh Amelim

Jordyn has been attending Habonim Dror Machaneh since 2014 and immediately fell in love with the movement. She has formed lifelong friendships and made extraordinary memories throughout her years at camp. Jordyn has held several leadership positions in Habonim and thoroughly enjoys creating the special, educational, and fun environment that was created for her when she was a channie. She has just finished her undergraduate degree in Forensic Sciences and is about to move on to Honours.

Habonim has helped Jordyn grow immensely as a person and has equipped her with many life skills that she will carry with her for the rest of her life. There is nothing Jordyn wouldn’t do for the Habonim movement, and she looks forward to leading the Grade 8s this year alongside her partners Mia and Jared.

Mia Briner

S'ganit Rosh Amelim

Mia has been attending Habonim Dror camp since 2014. She had never even slept out before
but spent 3 weeks on the campsite and has never looked back. She absolutely loves being part
of a Jewish youth movement that is educational and fun and has dedicated a lot of time to it.

This movement has built her teamwork and leadership skills in so many ways. Currently Mia is
doing her honours in human genetics at UCT which has taught her analytical and project
management skills which helps her to lead as best she can.

She is so excited to be taking the
Grade 8s this year and is working hard to make this camp the best it’s ever been with her team
Jared and Jordyn.

Jared Daitsh
S'gan Rosh Amelim

Jared first joined Habonim Dror as a channie in 2017 during his Bonim year and has been deeply connected to the movement ever since. He went on to attend both Amelim and Sollelim, where his love for the movement truly took root. Amelim, in particular, stands out as a formative year for Jared—it was where he began to develop a strong sense of identity, community, and long-lasting friendships.

Jared is currently studying Medicine at Stellenbosch University, with a special interest in working with adolescents and fostering positive, team-based environments. He brings empathy, dedication, and strong leadership skills to his role and is deeply committed to creating a safe, meaningful, and unforgettable camp experience. He is incredibly excited to be part of this year’s leadership team, working alongside his inspiring Rosh Jordyn and amazing co-S’gan Mia. Together, they are determined to give each channie the best Machaneh yet, filled with connection, joy, and growth.
