SHOMRIM
Emek - Grade 11

The three weeks of Shomrim facilitate Emek’s transition into the Bogrim (graduates) of the movement, as they grow into young Jewish leaders. As the oldest shichvah, Emek channichim will experience a unique set of responsibilities and privileges that will mould them into talented madrichim. The famous Shomrim fire has hosted many legendary discussions. Graduation and Tour, along with Mifkadeish, culminate the Machaneh where each channich is welcomed into the Bogrim body. This moving ceremony traces the life of the shichvah — a night dedicated to the group.

Eva Pazaitis
Rosh Shomrim

Eva joined Habonim Dror in 2018 for her Sayarim Machaneh and was captivated by the contagious energy. Returning every year has brought her new experiences, joyful memories, and a sense of peoplehood that she deeply values. Working with a team, running activities, and planning programmes have given her lifelong skills.

Eva recently graduated from UCT, where she studied Fine Arts—a background that has enriched her creativity and passion for designing engaging, meaningful experiences within the movement. She is very excited to be taking the Grade 11s this year and looks forward to a programme full of fun and engagement for the kids, alongside her partner Atara.

Atara Rudnick
S'ganit Rosh Shomrim

Atara has been attending Habonim Dror camp since 2017 and has been absolutely hooked ever since. She served as S’ganit Rosh for Emek during their Amelim and Sollelim years, positioning herself as one of the most experienced and respected leaders within the movement. There is nothing she would rather be doing than being involved in building up Jewish youth.

She has taken on many leadership positions that have greatly developed her management and people skills in numerous ways. Atara is currently studying Social Work at UCT, which ties into her passion for developing effective programming within Habonim to grow future leaders. She is elated to be taking the Grade 11s this year and is planning an exciting programme for the kids alongside her partner Eva.
