BONIM
Grade 7

There is no doubt that Bonim Machaneh is an incredible Habonim experience, and finally, it’s your turn! With brand-new tents, improved ablution facilities, and round-the-clock madrichim, there is no doubt that Makom Ligdol will rock the campsite!

Bonim’s theme, “Awareness of society and the heroes Habonim looks up to,” makes this Machaneh burst with action, adventure, fun, and so much more! Some of Bonim’s highlights include Illegal Immigration — a simulation of the journey of the Jewish people from Europe to Eretz Israel in the 1940s. Additionally, the Eco-Outing immerses channichim in the finest parts of nature’s beauty, cultivating a love for our planet. Wrestlemania teaches the channichim about storytelling and letting go of societal expectations. We eagerly await the ruach of the Bonim shichvah at Machaneh 2025.

Jonah Schwartz

Rosh Bonim

Jonah has been a dedicated member of Habonim since 2018. He loves the way Habo provides a safe place for everyone to learn and explore their Jewish identity and the world we live in. Jonah loves how Machaneh can provide the most fun experience with all your friends while still learning.

Habonim has taught Jonah how to speak to people with sincerity and how to engage in valuable conversations. Jonah is currently studying civil engineering, and he uses the skills he learned at Habonim on a daily basis.

Michael Flaum
S'gan Rosh Bonim

Michael Flaum is a second-year BCom student with a strong passion for youth work and community involvement. He has been part of Habonim Dror since 2019, when he joined at age 14, and the movement has been a major influence on his personal development ever since. Over the past two years, Michael has worked as a maddie for the Sheleg age group and had the privilege of roshing a Mini Machaneh and roshing the Garden Route program—both experiences he found meaningful and transformative.

These roles have taught him valuable lessons in leadership, responsibility, and the importance of creating lasting, impactful moments for channichim. Habonim Dror has given him a space to lead with heart, grow alongside others, and give back to a community that has given him so much.
