SOLLELIM
SHELEG - GRADE 9

Sheleg are in for a treat, as they reside in the most beautiful part of the site. Along the Sollelim glades, they will fall asleep among the trees and wake up to the sound of the ocean crashing against the shore. Sollelim focuses on the power of youth, emphasising how each and every channich has the power to make a long-lasting impact on the world. This Sollelim shichvah will bring vibrant energy to the Machaneh, and we cannot wait for what is in store.

The big moments of Sollelim Machaneh include a Bands Night, headlined by a local SA artist and a channich from the shichvah. The Habo Burn festival offers an anti-consumerist experience of self-expression and teamwork. The Messima project provides different tracks for socially actionable engagement, allowing the channichim to feel the power of making a difference.

Hannah Rome
Rosh Sollelim

Hannah Rome is thrilled to be spending her December holiday as Rosh Sollelim. After spending a gap year living in Israel, she is now studying English and International Relations at the University of the Witwatersrand. Habonim has provided her with a place where she feels completely at home. Her time in the movement has nurtured her growth and shaped her into the person she is today, and she credits a significant part of her personal development and critical thinking skills to the experiences she had on Habonim programmes.

Hannah loves being a madricha and has learnt so much from Habonim channichim over the years. She can think of nothing more fun and exciting than Sollelim Machaneh and can’t wait to spend three weeks going to the beach, dancing, eating ice bites, having fun, and making unforgettable memories!

Grounded in the value of arevut hadadit—mutual responsibility—Julian is committed to fostering an environment where collaboration, respect, and shared responsibility thrive.

He sees Habonim not just as a camp, but as a platform to contribute to something greater than himself, and to help build a space where meaningful change and personal growth can flourish.
